Welcome to Taunus Garden Juhr!
This is the place where you will find some of the newest
advances in Daylily, Iris and Peonies hybridizing! You can order
products listed here for sale directly via mail, or fax, or you can
visit our display garden from April until September.
During the spring and summer months we open our internationally
recognized and accredited European display garden to the public.
Visitors delight in learning about the hundreds of rare varieties of
Peonies which reach the height of their flowering glory during May
and early June.
Thousands of rare and new daylilies come into full bloom in June
and July, with second blooms common from August until the first
frost. Over the years our hybridizing specialist, Harald Juhr, has
combined his breeding genius with an amazing collection of rare
trees, perennials and bulbs, turning a deserted cow field near
Frankfurt into a fascinating botanical and biological paradise for
experts, beginning gardeners and school-aged children. In this
garden, the spirit and practice of "Feng Shui" is embodied and folks
are invited to come here to relax, draw or take pictures and just to
enjoy the astounding variety of plants and unusual insects. The
garden is also known as a "wellness garden", as guests are invited
to help pull weeds!
Our main hybridizing focus areas include Daylilies, Iris and
Peonies.
Daylilies
Modern Daylily varieties attract visitors with their vast colours,
which range from white to all shades of yellow, orange, pink, red
and go all the way into shades of dark lavender and deep purple. Not
only are the greenery and blooming colours striking, but the extreme
variation in shape, height, petal form and scent have caused an
increasing number of people to be very much in love with these
fascinating flowers.
Daylilies are very
robust, not only against common plant diseases but also are very
resistant to garden pests and animals, and grow well almost
anywhere, except in sand.
In our specialized
product collection we also offer some of the new varieties which Mr.
Juhr has created during his many years of breeding flowers. He has
been able to create new daylily varieties which do extremely well
here in the harsh northern European climate and we only release the
highest quality plants which have lived several years in our
“natural garden” (with only rain, no artificial watering).
Peonies
Peonies are the so called "long lived precious stones" of the garden. They enchant visitors
through their long lived flowering period from the middle of April
until the end of June, depending on variety and kind. The range of
colours goes from white to yellow, pink, coral, red to dark purple.
These solitary plants display also a large variety of flower forms;
the largest are from about one foot high to some tree forms, which
grow to be six feet tall.
Our specialist garden
offers mainly perennial peonies as well as many wild varieties for
sale. Over 200 varieties hybridized specially by Mr. Juhr add to the
selection of over 500 kinds of Peonies available to view and buy here.
Trees and Shrubs
Rare trees and shrubs, which in the past were only available
to specialst collectors, have now been added to our assortment. One
of the key attractions on offer today are small growing, three year
old tree hybrids (in German, called "Hexenbesen") which are hybrids
derived from the unique branch outgrowths from some varieties of
trees (like spruce and pine). These little trees are small and
exceptionally beautiful (see pictures). These Bonsai like trees are
perfect for adding to collections of uncommon trees or for adding to
smaller gardens and stone gardens. Taunus Garden Juhr is offering
these unusual products as part of an exclusive co-operation with one
of the most renowned Czech botanical experts, Mr. Fritzsche, who has
hybridized them all himself.
